Review of Two Hearts by James Eric Richey

The blurb is what got me interested in Two Hearts, I'm not going to deny that. I'm sort of a sucker for young love that lasts and fights through everything. I'm not going to say much more, I'll just be jumping on to my review.

Title: Two Hearts: When I Said I Do, I Meant Forever
Author: James Eric Richey
Publication Date: December 15, 2014
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Christian Fiction
Source: Copy Given by Author and Tour Organizer

SYNOPSIS:

Jaxon Tagget is a cattle-rancher's son, born and raised on the Double T, just outside of Dillon, Montana. In love with his high-school sweetheart, Annie, Jaxon proposes on graduation night, presenting her with a wedding ring made from gold he mined himself. Annie accepts immediately, to the horror of her bitter, man-hating mother.

Jaxon's a wonderful husband, but the warnings of Annie's mother linger in the young bride's ears. And it doesn't help that women continue to fall all over the markedly handsome Jaxon.

Unaware of his wife's persistent doubts, Jaxon is struggling with his own troubles when he finds out his dad is sorely in need of money to save the ranch. But hope glimmers gold when he rediscovers the old mine on the Double T.

While Jaxon travels to verify the mine's productivity, Annie grows increasingly suspicious. Is Jaxon's absence what it seems, or does he have another, less faithful reason for his travels? When Annie sees a picture of the beautiful laboratory owner whom Jaxon is visiting, she's sure the only gold he's interested in is long, blond hair. Is Annie right, or will it be her doubts that forever sever their Two Hearts?

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:

Jaxon Tagget is a hard-working, honest, loyal, and honorable man. He loves with all his heart, and he has known for quite some time that he wants to spend the rest of his life with his girl. He knows that there are things she's worried about, but he's patient and kind, and wishes to help her overcome her fears.

Annie Bradley has a sweet heart. She's kind, caring, and loving. However, because of previous experiences that have scarred her deeper than she realized, she became a somewhat guarded and insecure young woman with trust issues. She wants to change though, but it's so much harder than she expected.

REVIEW:

From the first few pages, I already loved Jaxon. He understands the value of hardwork and effort. He knows what Annie wants, and it's exactly what he had in mind. Let me just point out that I loved how Jaxon is what would pass as a regular guy. I mean, he's still every woman's fantasy, but it's a good break from all the rich business tycoons, tatted-up bad boys, or even the playboy jock who all girls fawn over. Don't get me wrong, I love those guys, but Jax seems kind of realistic. I don't even have to begin explaining how sweet and perfect he is as a husband.

Annie's also a lovable character. There were times when her paranoia pissed me off a bit, but I guess that's reality, you know? Women, in general, are insecure creatures. We need constant reassurance, and when something is perfect we can't seem to fully believe it. Annie represents that side of us. It's like she's just waiting for the proverbial "other shoe" to drop.

I loved the story so much. It's truly a breath of fresh air from what I usually read; sweet but steamy novels, adrenaline-pumping action books, stories stuffed with humor and sarcasm, and the down and dirty eroticas. Two Hearts is believable, and readers will definitely find themselves lost within the pages of a book.

All of the characters played such important parts in the entirety of the story, and I loved how they all have seemed to grow. Including the support roles, of course.

SUMMARY:

Although I did love the entire book, as well as the characters, I just found that I was gravely disappointed by the ending. It wasn't bad though. I just really wanted something more. An epilogue showing a tad more perhaps. But still, overall a wonderful read I truly enjoyed, from an author who writes really well and from the heart. Come check this out guys, especially if you love contemporary romance.
