Review of The Daddy's Girl Series by Normandie Alleman

Confession time: I don't like audiobooks. I don't have anything against them, but they're just not my cup o' tea. I've only tried listening to one before--The Hunger Games if memory serves--and it was weird. I just thought that maybe it works better in a different genre or whatnot, so I signed up for this tour thinking that this would be a better experience for me. Did I have a change of heart? Before I tell you, just an FYI; I'll be reviewing the series as a whole since I pretty much have the same thing to say about them all. Let's begin!

Title: Daddy Morebucks (Daddy's Girl #1)
Author: Normandie Alleman
Publication Date: December 10, 2013
Genres: Erotic, Romance
Audiobook Length: 5 hours and 48 minutes
Source: Audiobook Given by Author and Tour Organizer

SYNOPSIS:

From the moment she laid eyes upon him, Marley knew in her heart that James was not just another client, and the difference wasn’t even the large sum of money he offered in return for a single night of submission. No, what set him apart was the fact that when she called James “daddy”, it was her own heart which beat faster and her own body which ached with need.

After that night, Marley does her best to put all thought of him behind her, using the huge payday he provided to get on her feet again and start over… until James knocks on her door and walks right back into her life. He makes her a simple offer: if she will live with him and submit to him whenever he wishes, he will provide for her every desire.

Even before she accepts his offer, Marley knows that what she truly wants is not money or clothing or even a fancy new car. What she longs for is a daddy who will give his little girl what she really needs… a daddy who will spank her bare bottom when she is naughty, tie her up and take her any way he pleases, and then cuddle her until she falls asleep in his arms. Can she dare to hope that James will be that daddy?

Publisher’s Note: Daddy Morebucks is an erotic novel that includes spankings, graphic sexual scenes, elements of age play and BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Twenty-four-year-old Charmaine Bainbridge appears to have it all—beauty, fame, and tremendous wealth—yet behind all the glitz and glamor hides a sad little girl who has been abandoned by every man she’s ever loved.

When firefighter Hunter Baldwin saves Charmaine from a fire in her penthouse apartment—a blaze started by her own carelessness—he’s appalled by her nonchalant attitude. Forced to carry her to safety, he throws her over his shoulder, but not before correcting her behavior with a well-deserved spanking. Something about Charmaine arouses him deeply, and it isn’t just her gorgeous looks. This girl needs to be firmly corrected and thoroughly dominated, and a part of Hunter demands that he be the one to take her in hand.

Though he’s used to charging into burning buildings on a daily basis, Hunter knows taming Charmaine’s wild ways may prove to be his greatest challenge yet. Undeterred, he takes on the role of Charmaine’s daddy dom in hopes of breaking down her defenses and healing her wounds. But can she bring herself to open her heart to him, or will she remain the lonely little rich girl forever?

Publisher’s Note: Poor Little Daddy’s Girl is the third book in the Daddy’s Girl series. It incorporates characters from the first two books in the series, but it is a stand-alone novel. This book includes spankings, sexual scenes, BDSM content, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

REVIEW:

To answer my earlier question; nope. I still don't like audiobooks. Listening to one person talk in multiple tones, with different modulations, and talking dirty is simply awkward, to say the least. I'm so used to "reading" books and picturing things in my head, that "listening" to them made it hard for me to fully concentrate on the story. But I tried my hardest to get past the voice of the narrator and to the actual story, and I ended up liking it.

So basically all three books talk about a sexual relationship that might be considered taboo by some people--a "daddy-daughter" one. It's not my first time to read something that discusses the matter, so I wasn't shocked or anything. All three books have very different character, who have different backgrounds, and different status in life. However, aside from their "preference", all three books also have this in common: the passion developed quickly and with such intensity. It's not just about the sex, but the development of relationships built on trust and love. Of course, the steamy scenes aren't to be passed up either, because they are really hot. Although in my opinion, it gets more interesting as the series goes on. Daddy's Girl was written in a very detailed manner, making the reader's imagination vivid. Again, when I tried my best not to be bothered by the narrator (I have nothing personal against them) I was able to picture everything so clearly and it was truly spectacular. In Daddy's Game, even the football practices and training was detailed, and it really gives the book more depth. The author maintained the sense of realism in the entire series, and I think that's something to be noted.

SUMMARY:

This has been an interesting, engaging, and heat-inducing series, and I really enjoyed it. Though I think I'm going to get myself an ebook copy instead. Not that I'm not grateful for my audiobooks or anything, I just really want a more intimate "session" with these books. One that I can only get from reading it. Separately, I give Daddy Morebucks 3.5 stars, Daddy's Game 4 stars, and 4 stars as well for Poor Little Daddy's Girl.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

A former psychologist, Normandie has always been fascinated by human behavior. She loves writing quirky characters that are all too human. “I’m interested in the kind of relationships people have in real life. So I write about my characters’ messy, unpredictable, and inexplicable journeys to love.”

If there were another 5 hours in the day, Normandie would spend more time needle-pointing and playing with photography. Instead, she’s a Pinterest addict and sports junkie who’s crazy for Twitter and the color pink. She lives with a passel of children, her hunky husband, and a pet pig who loves Red Bull.
