I have never been a fan of historical romance novels. I've always found them a tad boring and stiff for my taste. Initially, I wasn't quite sure if I should do a review for Desire Me Now, because like I said, I don't really like this genre. But by impulse, I signed up for this tour anyway; whether it's to expand my horizon, get rid of bad assumptions, or just because I found the cover intriguing. Whatever it is, I am grateful for it. I adored this book, because it wasn't at all what I expected! Let me explain further...

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
Amelia Grant or Amelia Somerset is a well-educated, beautiful, and properly-mannered lady. She's also hiding; from her past life, from her brother, and from everything that can hurt her. Her self-control and pride are two things that she values most, but both of which are forgotten when around the seemingly perfect man who wants nobody but her.
 
Nick Riley is a man who comes with many scars; both literally and figuratively. He's an enigma, if you will. Only one person knows him fully, and he's not sure he wants to let anybody else in. He does not believe in permanent companionship or building a family, but it all changed because of Amelia. 
 
TO LOVE:
The book was really HOT. For a historical romance, I was not expecting the kind of passion and intensity that I've read. The intimate scenes were all explicitly narrated, and it was very interesting without being overwhelming. The characters, both main and supportive, are all hiding something about their pasts, and that's something that I'm sure a lot of people can relate to. Speaking of characters, can I just say that Nick is just...whew! He's a gentleman with a heart of gold, but he's also probably the worst person to be an enemy of. He protects he people he care about and he cares deeply for their welfare. It's just amazing to see such contrast in a man. Amelia is also a quite curious woman. She's a true lady, one who has perfect manners, but she can also be quite bold and fierce if need be. And like I've expressed in other reviews, I love a strong female lead. 
 
TO BLEH:
The story is one that makes you want more. It's a good thing, but also quite annoying. A second part will be coming out, so it's completely understandable that there would be questions left unanswered on Desire Me Now. However, there is such a thing as leaving TOO many curious thoughts. I felt like they didn't really accomplished much on book 1. Aside from having loads of sex and establishing that they are to be together -- discreetly -- but together nonetheless. I guess I would have enjoyed it more if they settled at least one issue. Like the Victoria thing perhaps? I know there's still something there.
 
SUMMARY:
I really liked this story, and I would definitely read the succeeding installments. I give Desire Me Now 4.5 stars, and would recommend this to other readers. It's not boring you guys! It's sexy. *wink*
